Sense of humour

Having a sense of humour can make you live longer! These are the conclusions from a Norwegian study which was conducted for 7 years, involving 53,500 people.

With regards to the conclusions, the verdict is clearcut - people with a certain sense of humour have a life expectancy 20% higher! For the scientists, the sense of humour has a positive effect on mental health and social life even after retiring.

You needn't laugh uproariously, a bare sparkle in the eyes is aparently enough! Good news.

The Illusionist - Tati is not dead!

After 'The Triplets of Belleville', the successful french animator and filmmaker Sylvain Chomet adapted Tati's story into a film. At the Berlinale festival last February, he noted, “It wasn’t what you’d call a script, it was more like a little novel.”

Set in the 1950s, Tati’s story looks at an aging man—Tati himself—and a young girl (he is said to have written “The Illusionist” for an estranged daughter). The older man, a traveling magician named Tatischeff, introduces the girl to the world at a time when a lot is changing.

Tati’s daughter, Sophie Tatischeff—a fan of Sylvain Chomet’s “The Triplets of Belleville”—tapped Chomet to adapt the unproduced story into an animated film, but she died just four months later.

I neeeeeeeeeed to watch this movie!!

Chaumet & Josephine

o mark its 230th anniversary, Chaumet has dedicated an eponymous collection to its first muse and customer, Empress Josephine de Beauharnais.Thirty exquisite pieces of jewelry revisit the diadem, the favorite headpiece worn by this modern, audacious and liberated woman. In a reference to Empire fashion, the Josephine Collection revisits the delicate design of the chérusque, the standing lace collar characteristic of gowns during the period.
The necklaces, earrings, rings, jewelry watches and bracelets in the collection are embellished with gold lace and a shower of diamonds.

The centerpiece of the collection, the diadem, is transformed into a ring to crown the finger. Twelve unique pieces in platinum reinterpret the tiara, the crown, the aigrette and the headband.

At the center are rare gems selected specially by Chaumet: diamond, pigeon's blood ruby and deep blue sapphire.

The collection includes two platinum diadems set with white and yellow pear diamonds.

Engraved with the declarations of love Napoleon Bonaparte sent to his wife, they represent 600 to 800 hours of work in Chaumet's workshops at 12, Place Vendôme in Paris.

The slender and ethereal Josephine collection attests to the inimitable excellence of the
jeweler's savoir-faire. It embodies an ability to revisit the stylistic codes of the past to better express their contemporary relevance.

Tuesday Lull

Some time to write a short article on this lull before the whirlwind of the 63rd edition of the Festival of Cannes starts. Today is the official opening, the Tuesday Lull. Here we go, the storm is about to arrive! The red carped is still being hammered into place and the Grand Palais prepared by grey-suited officials bustling about everywhere.
For journalists covering the festival, this is a time of savouring all the possibilities of movie experience that must surely be availbale in the next 10 days, before you're suddenly plunged straight into it, and there never seems to be enough time, and always seems to be one other great new film that you somehow can't get to see.
